ST. CLOUD - Supporters of a nearly 3,000 mile bike trail along the Mississippi River will be in town tomorrow (Wednesday).  It's call the Mississippi River Trail, and would extend from the headwaters to the Gulf of Mexico.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is heading-up the Minnesota portion of the project.  Spokesman Dan Collins says about six cities in the state will be designated "hub cities".

The St. Cloud metro area is hoping to be named one of those "hub cities", because the area will benefit from the marketing of the trail.

A new bike path is not planned, but instead they'll use existing paths and roadways adjacent to the river.

Collins says you should start to see new "Mississippi River Trail" signs going up about a year from now.

If you want more information about this project, there's a meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) at 3:30 p.m. at the St. Cloud Public Library.
