ST. CLOUD -- A group of financial experts gathered at the Great River Regional Library this morning (Thursday) to discuss financial education.

Members of the Minnesota Credit Union Network and St. Cloud State University talked about financial education.

Mark Cummins is the President and CEO of the Minnesota Credit Union. He says their goal is to help you reach your financial goals.

"As credit unions that's our mission is to help people, we are all about helping people achieve their financial goals" says Cummins.

A panel of four experts spoke at the workshop. They discussed things like financial workshops and identity theft awareness.

St. Cloud State University Economics Professor King Banaian was one of today's speakers. He says its important to teach children about financial education early.

"We believe that if you educate kids about financial literacy, that they will talk to their parents about it and their parents will learn things too" says Banaian.

The event was part of  Financial Literacy Month. A time where credit unions' showcase their year-round efforts to financial education.
