St. Cloud Approves Stearns County Road 120 Design

ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud has given its approval to the final layout of the Stearns County Road 120 improvements.

The council voted 4-to-3 in favor of the project which will create roundabouts at County Road 134/50th Avenue and at CentraCare Circle.

Council members cited continued concerns over access limitations the plan creates for Hennen's Furniture. But, City Engineer Steve Foss says all avenues for frontage roads and alternative designs were exhausted.

Foss says it's not ideal, but the project will create improvements for everyone.  He says traffic will flow better, more cars will use the corridor and businesses in the area will benefit from the increased traffic past their storefronts.

The project is scheduled to start this spring or summer, ahead of the Highway 15 interchange project.

Council members, George Hontos, Nancy Gohman and Jeff Goerger voted against the design.
