ST. CLOUD - September is National Recovery Month for Americans struggling with substance abuse and the St. Cloud Alano Club is hosting several events this week to recognize recovery.

The club is dedicated to provide a safe and friendly enviornment for members to  practice the program of the 12 steps.

The group is hosting its annual banquet at Coyote Moon Restaurant on Friday night. Sean is vice president of the club and says nationally renowned author John McDougall will speak at the event. McDougall is author of "Being Sober and Becoming Happy".

"We're very fortunate to have him here, he's touched a lot of lives around the country. It draws a lot of attention so we're hoping at the last minute to see some people. If you're not in the recovery community, you're welcome to come-it's an open event."

The banquet runs from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 and will be available at the door. A dinner will also be served.

A "Sober Dance" will be held Saturday night from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Recovery Plus in the fellowship hall building. The dance will feature "Classic Rock" by the Side Effects. Tickets will be $5 at the door.
