ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud Regional Airport has been awarded a federal grant to improve and grow their hangar area.

Airport Director Bill Towle says the $351,000 grant will be used in two areas. A majority of the money will be used for design work to replace the pavement in the general aviation hangar area. The remaining money will be used for an environmental assessment to expand the general aviation area in the future.

Towle says the space crunch is a good problem to have.  He says it means the economy is good and more people and corporations are storing their planes in St. Cloud.

Towle says they will be applying for another grant next year to complete the pavement work. Additional grant applications will be made once they're ready to build new hangars in the future.
