ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud Regional Airport has received a federal grant which will pay for improvements to some runways.

The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded the St. Cloud Airport $1.3-million to complete airstrip improvements.

The money will pay to rebuild the crosswind runway whose pavement has deteriorated and also pay for the design of an extension to the main runway which will allow for larger planes at St. Cloud Airport.

The money is timely as St. Cloud officials continue to try to attract daily direct flights to and from Chicago.
