ST. CLOUD -- At risk youth from Youth Initiative Mentoring Academies helped the St. Cloud Aero Club wash planes and pick up trash at the St. Cloud Regional Airport yesterday (Thursday).

Following the plane wash was a barbeque where the kids had the opportunity to speak with some of the aviation students.

The non-profit organization exposes kids to many different types of careers.

Fifth grader, Isak Abader says he wants to become a pilot someday.

Executive director, Mamie Landford Singleton says they are planning to schedule an event to replace the cancelled air show this July.

Collectively with the Boys Scouts, St. Cloud State University and the Mayor's Office they plan to host an air event.

They are looking at potentially bringing in exhibits from the Tuskegee Airmen and the Red Tail.

Singleton says there has been some consideration about offering rides in old vintage airplanes.

Youth Initiative Mentoring Academy is looking forward to bringing the kids back to the airport for the event in July.

There is no word yet on any official dates.
