ST. PAUL - The Stearns County Attorney's Office has charged a St. Cloud woman with multiple tax crimes.

The Minnesota Department of Revenue says Bernice Garbina of St. Cloud was recently charged with 10 tax-related felonies.

She allegedly evaded paying $4,000 in Minnesota income tax by failing to file and pay for taxes from 2010 to 2014. According to the complaint, Garbina was a licensed public accountant and owner of a tax preparation business and was aware of Minnesota tax requirements.

The release says she admitted that she knew when tax filings were due and did not file hers on time.

She is charged with five counts of failing to file income tax returns and five counts of failing to pay income taxes. Each charge has a max penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.
