VADNAIS HEIGHTS (AP) - A Ramsey County sheriff's deputy crashed a squad car into a commercial building in Vadnais Heights, struck a gas line and ignited a fire in the building.

The deputy escaped without serious injuries. And officials say no one was in the building when the crash occurred about 10 p.m. Thursday.

The deputy was following a speeding driver when he failed to make a turn and hit the building. He got out of the squad as the fire started and away from the crash.

The building houses several businesses, including an accounting firm.
