Spring “Click It or Ticket” Campaign Cites 126 Unbelted Drivers

ST. CLOUD — The St. Cloud Police Department cited 126 unbelted drivers from May 20 – June 2 as part of a Click It or Ticket seat belt education and enforcement campaign.

The extra enforcement resulted in 1 child restraint violation and 1 citation to a parent/caregiver for child seat violations.

According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety, more than 350 unbelted motorists were killed in the last three years (2010-2012) in Minnesota, representing 41 percent of the total motorist deaths.

Of the 352 motorists killed in unbelted deaths during the 2010-12 campaign, 145 were motorists ages 16-29.
