Special-Needs Children Removed From Filthy Rosemount Home

ROSEMOUNT (AP) - Four special-needs children have been removed from a Rosemount home that investigators say was fly-infested, filthy and so cluttered that it was considered a fire trap.

The woman who lives in the home with her sex-offender husband has been charged with neglect. A criminal complaint does not indicate whether either of the adults are the parents of any of the children, ages 6 to 13.

The complaint says a Dakota County social worker determined the children should be removed because of the living conditions and the man's convictions for criminal sexual conduct and possessing child pornography.

A fire marshal also visited the home, found 19 safety violations and noted severe hoarding and clutter.

The oldest child told authorities that the woman would discipline the children by locking them in their bedrooms.
