Special Election to be Held to Fill Rep. Gottwalt’s Seat [AUDIO]

ST. CLOUD - Some area residents will be asked to go to the polls again soon.  State Representative Steve Gottwalt of St. Cloud has announced his intention to resign from his position.  That will trigger a special election.

Gary Poser is the Director of Elections at the Secretary of State's Office.  He says the Governor will have five days to set the special election, from the time he receives the official letter of resignation from Gottwalt.

Poser says anyone interested in running for the seat needs to file an affidavit of candidacy.  You can do that either at the Secretary of State's office, at the Auditor/Treasurer's office in Stearns County.

Gottwalt Represents House District 14A, which covers South and West St. Cloud, Waite Park, and St. Augusta.
