ST. CLOUD - A new exhibit is opening today (Thursday) at the Stearns History Museum.

The collection known as "Blood Run Artworks of the Big Sioux" will be on display through August 15th.

The use of the name "Blood Run" is a reference of honor and respect to an 8,500 year old Paleo-Indian site which is located on the border of Iowa and South Dakota, straddling the Big Sioux River. Blood Run is one of the oldest sites of long-term human habitation in the United States, and at one time contained over 480 mounds. But, after looting by settlers and gravel quarrying, only 78 remain.

All of the art on display is also for sale.
