Sofia Muyres, age 95, of Hillman, died Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Foley Nursing Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Brennyville. The Rev. Leo Moenkedick will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 Tuesday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and one hour prior to the service at the church. Service with Dignity provided by the Foley Funeral Home.

Sofia Muyres was born June 24, 1919 in Alberta Township, Benton Co. to Frank and Theresa (Wojciak) Stolarczyk. She married Arnold N. Muyres on September 25, 1940 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. She grew up in Granite Ledge Township, Benton County. The couple lived and farmed for many years in Lakin Township, Morrison County. Sofia lived on this farm for 74 years. During World War II, she worked in Minneapolis making torpedo parts. Afterward she worked for Fingerhut in St. Cloud for more than 20 years before retiring at age 65. Sofia was an active member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers both in quilting and bazaar work for many years. Sofia made over a thousand sun dresses from donated materials for the St. Cloud Diocese Support Missions in Central American and Africa. She enjoyed baking, quilting, sewing and tending to her flowers.

She is survived by her sons and daughters; Keith (Julene), St. Cloud; Celeste Muyres-Lehn, Albertville; Blaine, Minneapolis and Candice (Charles) Stuber of Maple Grove, grandchildren; Laura (Marc) Macke, Daniel (Josie) Muyres and Jeffery (Jenny) Bouma and 6 great grandchildren, Joe and Kate Macke, Madeline and Lydia Muyres, Morgen and Landen Bouma; sister-in-laws, Dolores Stolarczyk, Minneapolis; Beata (Pete) Gohl, Pierz and brother-in-law, Hubert Muyres of Modesto, CA. She also leaves many loving relatives, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Arnold, Nov 14, 1987; sisters, Rosalia (George) Prebish, Theresa (Felix) Rhoda, Delphine (Max) Fenna and Regina (William) Hoffman, brothers; Louis (Lillian), Aloise (Katherine) and John, sister-in-law, Phala Muyres and Rosemary Fussy, brother-in-law, Roman Fussy, son-in-law, Jerry Lehn and one great grandchild, Megan Ann Muyres.
