ST. PAUL (AP) - Officials say smoke inhalation caused the death of a St. Paul man who they say was highly intoxicated when he died.

Thirty-year-old Chris Meusburger died in a fire at his townhouse Sunday. Fire officials say the victim had a blood alcohol level of 0.26, more than three times the legal limit for driving.

Officials also say the only smoke detector in the home had been disabled prior to the fire. Investigators say the fire was unintentional, but the cause was undetermined because they cannot rule out careless smoking or an electrical cause.
