SAVAGE (AP) - One community in the Twin Cities metro has taken a strong stand against online home rentals, and it's not sitting well with all its residents.

As cities, including St. Paul, consider whether to adopt regulations on the short-term home rentals, the community of Savage has outright banned the practice.

Last year, John Binetti started renting out his house a couple weekends a month on the website Airbnb to make a few extra dollars to pay bills.

Savage Administrator Barry Stock says Binetti's neighbors complained about noise and traffic. So the City Council passed an ordinance barring anyone from renting their home for fewer than 15 days at a time, which effectively bans Airbnb in Savage.

Binetti says he ought to have the right to have anyone he chooses in his home.
