Shirley Ann Alvina Hommerding was born in Paynesville on May 11, 1937 to Fred & Alvina (Haag) Hommerding. At three weeks old they moved to Eden Valley on a farm where she lived her entire life. Shirley and Maynard retired and moved in to Eden Valley in 2006. She was baptized on June 6, 1937, confirmed March 25, 1951, and married Maynard Wilbert Yungk on June 28, 1958 all at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Church was very important to her. Shirley’s biggest joy was when she could be with her daughters and their families. She always had a bag of candy for her grandchildren. Shirley was a housewife and a waitress for many years. She was an avid sports fan of her daughters and grandchildren. She went to all the games and cheered the loudest until arthritis and cancer slowed her up. She loved playing cards and was in three groups. She loved socializing, dancing, and spending time with her family. Her kind words and smiles will be missed by many friends.

Survivors include her husband, Maynard of Eden Valley; daughters, Cindy (Mike) Rathbone of St. Cloud, Cheryll (Stuart) Benson of Shafer, Lori (Deon) Singer of Rogers, Jody (Kevin) Streff of Wentworth, SD, and Becky (Howie) Peart of Richmond; eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Angeline Mausehund; infant brother, Clifford; brother-in-law, Frank Mausehund; and nephew, Donnie Mausehund.

Memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.
