UNDATED -- The Morrison County Sheriff is warning you about a new scam associated with income tax season.

Michel Wetzel says scammers are sending e-mails saying that a your income tax return has a problem and that you need to fill out a form to correct the problems, and fax it back to a phone number -- typically it's an 866 number.  The e-mail looks like it was sent from the IRS.  Victims who fill-out this form are providing vital information such a social security numbers, and PIN numbers.

It's important to remember the IRS does not send out e-mails.  An unsolicited e-mail claiming to be from the IRS should be reported to phishing@irs.gov
