MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Authorities say a St. Anthony man who died in a confrontation with police had some hostility toward the Minnesota doctor he's suspected of killing.

Beyond that, Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek gave few details about what led 30-year-old Ted Hoffstrom to kill Dr. Stephen Larson in Larson's Orono home on Friday.

Stanek did not describe the nature of Hoffstrom's hostility, but said it appears to stem from the fact that a member of Hoffstrom's family was once one of Larson's patients. Stanek says the investigation is ongoing.

Stanek says the 74-year-old Larson was home alone when he was shot multiple times. Stanek says Larson had been talking on the phone when he answered the door, and the person on the other end of the call heard noises and called 911.
