ELK RIVER - A Sherburne County Sheriff's Deputy has been given a big honor.  Roxanne Schreder was recently named "Deputy of the year", for her hard work and dedication to educating the public about crime prevention.

In 2009 Schreder helped start the department's K.I.D.S. Choice program, which stands for Kindness, Intelligence, Decency, and Safety.  She works closely with the 28 Neighborhood Watch Groups in the county.  She's active with senior citizens in a program called Seniors and Law Enforcement Together - or S.A.L.T.  And she was responsible for applying for and receiving Towards Zero Death grants.

Deputy Schreder has been with the Sherburne County Sheriff's Department since 2007.
