Sharon A. Opatz, 55, Luxemburg

May 16, 1960 - August 15, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Luxemburg, MN for Sharon (Schlangen) Opatz, age 55, who died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary’s Hall in Luxemburg. Arrangements are with Wenner Funeral Home, Cold Spring.

Sharon was born in Richmond, MN to Raymond and Irene (Hommerding) Schlangen. She married Jim Opatz on July 4, 1989 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Richmond, MN. Sharon served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1981 to 1985. The joys of her life were her sons, jet skiing, dancing and gardening. Sharon was a member of St. Wendelin Parish and Waite Park Legion Post 428.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; sons, Dustin and Dylan; mother, Irene; sisters, Donna Zierden, Julie (Dave) Nordvik, Rosemary Schlangen; brothers, Patrick (Marlys), Ken (Laura), Allen (Suzanne), Dale (Janelle); in-laws, Sue Schlangen and Ben Witte.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond; brothers, Eldy and Vern; sister, Bernadine and brother-in-law, Don Zierden.
