WASHINGTON D.C. – The U.S. Senate has approved a bill to rename the Cold Spring Post Office in honor of slain police officer Tom Decker.

The Post Office will be renamed to the "Officer Tommy Decker Memorial Post Office". The bill now heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

Sixth District Congresswoman Michele Bachmann led the legislation in the House, which passed in June with the support of Minnesota's entire Congressional delegation.

Decker was killed on duty while responding to call in November 2012. A man whom police were prepared to arrest for the killing committed suicide during a standoff with authorities in January 2013.
