ROCKVILLE -- Traffic on I-94 was backed up for hours this morning after a semi-truck carrying cattle overturned.

State Patrol spokesman Jesse Grabow says the incident happened at about 4:40 a.m. on I-94 one mile west of Highway 23. The driver, 30-year-old Nicholas Cotter of Browerville, left the roadway, entered the median and overturned.

Westbound traffic was backed up for miles while the scene was cleaned up.

Grabow says Cotter was not hurt, but some of the 35 head of cattle died in the crash.

All westbound lanes are once again open to traffic.
