The Minnesota Wild used a big second period to come from behind and beat the Detroit Red Wings Sunday night in St. Paul.

The Minnesota Wild used a three goal third period to top the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 at Xcel Energy Center in St Paul Sunday night.

The Wild (7-6-2) trailed the Wings (7-6-2) 1-0 after one period of play, with Detroit leading in shots 14-8.

Minnesota got three goals in the second period in succession after a Pavel Datsyuk goal just :20 into the second gave Detroit a 2-0 lead.

Dany Heatley started the comeback for Minnesota with a slap shot goal at 9:35 from the high slot that made the score 2-1.

Rookie Jason Zucker, playing in his first game of the season, scored his first career goal at 13:13 of the second period to tie the game at two apiece.

Torrey Mitchell's backhand goal off a face off from the left wing side just :32 later was the eventual game-winner as the Wild held Detroit off the scoreboard for the remainder of the contest.

The Wild are at Edmonton Wednesday night.
