MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Searchers have resumed their work on the Mississippi River in Minneapolis where they're looking for a submerged car.

Authorities don't yet know if there was anyone inside the car when it landed in the river Sunday morning.  A jogger spotted the vehicle in the river and called 911. Searchers trolled the river for nine hours before ending their search Sunday evening. The search resumed again Monday morning.

Officials say the rain and strong current are making search efforts difficult.

Hennepin County Sheriff's Maj. Darrell Hugget says it's possible car thieves had pushed a stolen vehicle into the river.
