ST. CLOUD - The brother of a missing Eden Prairie woman has spent the past two days in the St. Cloud metro area, searching for his sister.

Steven Matula spoke with WJON news this (Sunday) afternoon.  He says there are about 40-50 volunteers that are helping him look.  He says they've been concentrating on the areas along Highway 10 between Clearwater, St. Cloud and Sartell.  He says he's encouraging local residents to look in areas along the river, and in remote areas of parks.

Steven Matula says the suspect, David Roe's cell phone registered to a cell phone tower between Interstate 94 and Highway 10 on the night that Mandy went missing.

A spokesman for the Stearns County Sheriff's Department says they are aware of the volunteers searching, but the sheriff's department is not involved in the search.

Eden Prairie police say they believe the ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old David Roe, likely traveled in parts of Stearns County after he was last seen with 24-year-old Mandy Matula, so officials there joined in the search Sunday. Police also say unspecified items of interest led to a search in Carver County Sunday.

Other searchers found pieces of tissue paper in Eden Prairie Sunday with what appeared to be blood on them. Police later confirmed they were not related to her disappearance.

Matula has been missing since leaving her family's home late Wednesday. She was last seen with Roe, who shot himself Thursday and died Friday.

David Roe was a student at St. Cloud State University.

From the Finding Mandy Matula Facebook Page: *** For all the students that go to SCSU, if you can think of areas that most cops usually wouldn't go to look for people( hiden spots ) please check all those if you can think of any. I want to focus mainly out of the ordinary places to go. Go on trails, parks, rivers, lakes. Anything you can think of. Please let us know in this File, on areas you hit and you know is covered so people can start a search somewhere.***
