COLUMBUS - The St. Cloud State women's hockey team tied the #10 Ohio State Buckeyes last night 2-2, going on to win the shootout 2-1.

Ohio State started off the scoring with a Taylor Kuehl power play goal in the first period.

SCSU came back to tie the game in the first period, thanks to a goal from Julia Gilbert.

The Buckeyes took the lead back in the second with a goal from Sara Schmitt, making it 2-1 Ohio State.

The Huskies would ultimately tie the game 2-2 in the third period, thanks to a goal from Cari Coen.

Both teams would remain tied through overtime. The game ultimately had to be decided in a shootout. St. Cloud defeated Ohio State 2-1 in the shootout with goals from Amanda Monkman and Molli Mott.

Huskies goalie Julie Friend recorded 41 saves in the action, with the tie Friend moves to 0-0-2 this season.

St. Cloud State will take on Ohio State again this afternoon. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:07 p.m. CT.
