ST. CLOUD  (AP) - The St. Cloud State women's hockey team is finally returning home after getting stranded on the East Coast because of superstorm Sandy.

The Huskies played a pair of games at Providence College in Rhode Island last weekend, and then got stuck there as they waited for the storm to pass.

Huskies coach Jeff Giesen says they experienced very windy conditions with torrential rain, much like a thunderstorm that lasted eight hours.

The 22 players and five staff members boarded a flight at Logan Airport in Boston Wednesday morning for their flight to Minneapolis, and then the bus trip back to St. Cloud.

Giesen says it'll be good to get home, especially since his team has opened the season with eight straight road games. They host Ohio State this weekend.
