ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud State University's Homecoming weekend has been a tradition for many years.  And for some, that tradition included getting up early, and heading to the bars for a full day of drinking known as "kegs and eggs".

SCSU President Earl Potter says it was a reputation that he wasn't particularly proud of.

So, SCSU decided earlier this year to scrap the tradition of Homecoming, and revamp it into a series of four "Celebrate! St. Cloud State" weekends spread throughout the year.  The first one is October 1st and 2nd.

Potter was on WJON with Bob Hughes this (Monday) morning.  He says they found that almuni were not coming back to town for the tradition homecoming.

Potter says the Alumni Association will host events at the Huskies football game on October 1st, including a pre-game concert by Diamondback.  Post-game events will be held at the Red Carpet.

Other "Celebrate! St. Cloud State" weekends have been scheduled for January, April and June.
