The St. Cloud State football team began practice Thursday night at Husky Stadium.  SCSU returns quarterback Phillip Klaphake as the team's starting quarterback.  The 6'1 185 pound sophomore lost his top receiver from last season, Fred Williams.  Williams finished his SCSU career in 2010 holding numerous SCSU records.  The Huskies do get running back Brandon Geiss back from injury and return running backs Damon Treat and Dante Steward.

Head coach Scott Underwood says the production of Fred Williams won't be replaced by one guy.  The Huskies were 10-3 in 2010 and will open the 2011 season at California of Pennsylvania Thursday September 1.
