MINOT, N.D. -- The St. Cloud State men's and women's basketball teams both lost disappointing games to the Minot State Beavers.

SLOW START DOOMS SCSU MEN

The Huskies heated up in the second half, but it was not enough to comeback from an ice-cold start as they fall to Minot State 97-89 on Saturday.

SCSU was outscored 45-32 in the first half as they struggled to get things going offensively.

Jordan Poydras again led the Huskies by filling up the box score - scoring a game-high 31 points, pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out six assists.

Eddie Alcantara scored 15 points and starters Connor Niehaus and Donnell Cegers both added 12 fas the Huskies scored 57 points in the second half.

But the Beavers never relinquished their lead as the Huskies fall to 11-9 on the season.

SCSU WOMEN STRUGGLE TO SCORE IN LOSS

The SCSU women's basketball team were unable to hit shots consistently in their 81-64 loss to the Minot State Beavers on Saturday.

Carley Jeffery was the only Husky to reach double digits in scoring, as she finished with 11 points.

As a team, the Huskies hit only 21 of their 64 shots - good for a paltry 32.8 field goal percentage.

Conversely, four Beavers finished in double digits as Minot State shot 50 percent from the field.
