COLLEGE PARK - A St. Cloud State University Alumnus is now the new director of the National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center.

Meteorologist David Novak was a 2000 graduate of St. Cloud State and was promoted on Monday at the center located in College Park, Maryland.

The Weather Prediction Center is one of nine National Weather service centers that specializes in storm summaries on storms bringing significant rain or snowfall.

Novak was a 2008 St. Cloud State alumni award honoree and joined the National Weather Service as a summer intern in 1999 while attending St. Cloud State.
