ST. CLOUD -- It may not be your typical school day but over 700 area students had no problem learning at the 10th Annual Science Rocks! and Nature Conference.

The event is co-sponsored by Resource Training and Solutions and St. Cloud State University.

Sandra Cordie is the Director of Event Programs at Resource Training. She says the conference is a way to engage 5th and 6th students through hands-on learning.

"The learn about plants, physics, they can touch pig hearts, dissect knees, be apart of science activities, you name it we have it," says Cordie.

The over 30 sessions are taught by a professional in their respected fields. Resource Training and Solutions CEO Mark Schmitz says the program offers so much to the young students.

"This gives kids a chance to step on a University campus, and this is an opportunity for kids to explore in ways they don't get to in the four walls of a classroom," says Schmitz.

Thanks to their partnership with SCSU, Schmitz says the program gives school districts something more to add to their curriculum.

"We're able to provide this, build that partnership with post-secondary and all the schools in our area and provide this experience to students as a co-op where individual school districts may have a difficult time doing," says Schmitz.

Each session lasts about an hour and are placed at SCSU's Wick Science Building, Brown Hall and the ISELF building.
