ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud area school board will discuss a proposal to combine the Tech and Apollo High School hockey programs on Wednesday.

Under the proposal, Tech and Apollo hockey would be combined into one class AA program. The co-op would be in effect for at least two years and the board hopes it would answer the issue of Apollo not having enough returning players to support a hockey program next year.

The Eagles had 15 seniors on the team, one junior, four sophomores and two freshmen last season.

"The proposal has been discussed with the St. Cloud Youth Hockey Association President, and parents have been informed of the plan," a news release from District 742 says.

Athletic directors Dave Langerund from Apollo and Andrea Swanberg from Tech will present the proposal to the school board during their work session on Wednesday night. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m.
