ST. CLOUD -- The Sauk Rapids-Rice baseball team upset the Tech Tigers 6-0 Tuesday afternoon at Dick Putz Field in a Section 5AAA playoff game.

The Storm struck first in the top of the first inning. Leadoff man Bjorn Hansen reached on an  error by Tech shortstop Max Unze and eventually scored on an error by third baseman Justin Mohs.

Sauk Rapids-Rice added two more runs in the top of the fourth. A Mohs error with one out allowed Cole Fuecker to reach base. Fuecker advanced to third on a Brady Posch single, then scored on Cordell Lazer's double. Posch came around to score on Anthony Massman's sacrifice fly.

The Tigers threatened in the bottom of the fifth, loading the bases on three walks with one out, but Storm first baseman Cole Fuecker started a spectacular 3-6-3 double play to wipe out the threat.

Lucas Bentrud, Brady Posch and Cordell Lazer and Bjorn Hansen had the only three hits of the game for the Storm, while the Tigers committed five errors.

Noah Klinefelter earned the win for Sauk Rapids-Rice, pitching a complete game while allowing no runs, four hits and seven walks.

Unze got on base four times for the Tigers with a single, double and a pair of walks.

The Storm advance to face ROCORI in the winners bracket, with Sauk Rapids-Rice needing two wins to advance.
