SAUK RAPIDS - The Sauk Rapids-Rice School District has scheduled a public hearing on Monday night to discuss a proposed technology fee.

This fall, each high school student in the school district will have access to a Macbook laptop.

Sauk Rapids-Rice Superintendent Dan Bittman says the fee would be $60 and would be charged only to students who want to take the laptop home with them after school.

High School Students would pay the fee this upcoming fall. The money would be used to repair and replace any damaged computers. Bittman says the district won't make money from the fee, but would use the funds for maintenance of the program.

The hearing on the fee will start at 6:30 p.m. in the District Office Board Room in Sauk Rapids High School.
