SAUK RAPIDS - The Sauk Rapids-Rice school district won first place for the Nation's Magna Award for its effots to increase access and opportunities for all students.

The Magna Award is a national award that honors school boards best practices and innovative programs to advance student learning.

Sauk Rapids-Rice worked to increase access for students through individual laptops in high school, offering free breakfasts and reducing transportation costs.

Superintendent Dan Bittman highlighted his appreciation for the board's innovative efforts to provide quality programs for each student in the district.

The Minnesota School Board Association will highlight the district in its March Journal publication. The National School Board Association will also highlight the district and its accomplishments in April.
