SAUK RAPIDS - Sauk Rapids Police arrested a man on Thursday morning after a caller reported a suspicious person in an area where several unsolved burglaries have recently happened.

The call reported a man was in the 1200 block of Seventh Avenue North in Sauk Rapids. Sauk Rapids Police Chief Perry Beise says when police arrived on the scene, they approached the man and he fled on foot.

Officers from Sartell, Benton County and the Minnesota State Patrol all helped to track the man to an area near the on-ramp for Highway 10 and Benton County Road 29. The man was captured while lying in a ditch.

Police and investigators are working to see if the man had any connection to the recent burglaries in the area. The suspects name hasn't been released

Beise says he continues to encourage Sauk Rapids residents to call police if they see any suspicious activity in the area.

"We are asking the residents, if they see something suspicious to call the police department immediately," Beise says.
