SAUK RAPIDS - The Sauk Rapids Municipal Liquor Store will be open on Sundays starting in July. The city council is expected to approve the move during their meeting Monday.

Manager Tom Boulton says the plan is to be open during the hours that they legally can be on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. starting on July 2nd.

And then we will reevaluate after six months and see if it's working as far as staffing and if we're making money.

Boulton says most municipal liquor stores plan to be open on Sundays.

He says he's hired one extra employee for the summer, mostly because sales have been strong.

The revenue generated from the Sauk Rapids Municipal Liquor Store goes into the city's general fund.

The Minnesota State Legislature passed a law allowing Sunday liquor sales during the current session.
