Sauk Rapids Man Arrested After Struggles With Police and Hospital Staff

ST. CLOUD - A Sauk Rapids man with three outstanding warrants was arrested after fleeing police on Saturday.

At about 5:00 p.m. the Stearns County Sheriff's Office and the St. Cloud Police Department located 26-year-old Shawn Iees walking on Veterans Drive near 24th Avenue North in St. Cloud. Deputies attempted to stop Iees and he fled on foot.

After a short chase, he was tackled to the ground and continued to fight police even after a Taser was used.

After the struggle, Iees was checked by paramedics and taken to St. Cloud hospital. While being treated by hospital staff, Iees attempted to run again from Deputies. During the struggle a deputy and hospital staff member were hurt.

Iees is now being held in the Stearns County Jail on multiple charges, including assaulting an officer and a medical caregiver.
