ST. CLOUD - A Sauk Rapids man was arrested after leading police on a chase with his 15-month-old daughter in the back seat.

St. Cloud Police responded to a threats complaint just before 5:00 a.m. on Thursday in the 100 block of 20th Avenue North.

A caller told police they were threatened by a man with a stick. While investigating, an officer saw a vehicle traveling down the alley at a high rate of speed. The vehicle refused to stop and officers started a chase that lasted seven miles.

The chase led police across Highway 15 in Sauk Rapids where the vehicle stopped in the 1900 block of North Benton Drive. The driver surrendered and was identified as 30-year-old Robert Derosier of Sauk Rapids. Police also found his 15-month-old daughter in a secured child seat in the back of the vehicle.

Derosier had an active felony warrant for his arrest and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. A small amount of suspected controlled substance was also found in his possession.

He was taken to Stearns County Jail on the warrant and for new charges including fleeing police in a motor vehicle, child endangerment, 5th degree possession of a controlled substance, 2nd degree DUI and reckless driving.

Derosier and his daughter weren't hurt during the chase. The vehicle had damage to one of the wheels after the tire blew out.

Investigation revealed Derosier was not involved in the original threats complaint. The original incident is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.
