SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) - The city of Sauk Rapids has agreed to pay a former employee more than $31,000 to settle a gender-discrimination claim.

The St. Cloud Times reports Michelle Hoppe resigned last month as an office clerk in the city's building safety department. She was one of three women who received more than $130,000 in 2004 in a wage-discrimination settlement.

In her latest claim, she accused the city of retaliating against her because of that claim, and of discriminating against her due to her gender.

She says there was a 12-day furlough for union employees in 2010. She says men were allowed to return to work as money became available but women remained on furlough.

The city denies wrongdoing, and Hoppe has agreed not to file additional claims.
