SAUK RAPIDS - The Sauk Rapids city council has voted to reduce the speaking time allowed to residents at their meetings.

Last (Monday) night the council voted 3-1 to reduce the open forum time from 10 minutes per person down to two minutes.  However, the number of people who want to address the council on issues not on the agenda will not be limited.

The proposal to change the time limit was placed on the agenda by Mayor Brad Gunderson.

City Administrator Ross Olson says most of the other metro area cities also have a two-minute time limit.
