SAUK RAPIDS - The Sauk Rapids City Council has been planning it for over six months, and now it's official, they took action tonight (Monday) to approve an organized garbage collection.

City attorney Adam Ripple says the final contract with Allied Waste is not ready yet, but should be signed in the next week or two.  He says they are on track to begin the single hauler system by the end of June or early July.

However, a lot of questions still remain, like "what do residents do with their old garbage bins?".  City Administrator Ross Olson says there's still a lot of work to be done with the public education process before the new garbage collection system starts.
