The 2013-14 Winter Edition of the Saturday Morning Coaches show began this week as five coaches from the area joined us to talk boys basketball and girls hockey.

The Tech Tigers are off to a 3-1 start to the season with wins over Robbinsdale Cooper, Willmar and Apollo following a season-opening loss at Hopkins.

Head coach Mike Trewick joined the SMCS in studio to talk about Tech's solid start to the season.

The Cathedral Crusaders have started their season at 3-2, with all of their early season games coming on the road. The Crusaders do not have a home game on the schedule until December 13 when they host Foley at CHS.

Head coach Matt Meyer joined the Saturday Morning Coaches' show via telephone to discuss his teams' start to the season.

Sartell-St. Stephen is off to an undefeated start to their season on the heels of their appearance at last season's Minnesota State Tournament. Coach Marcus Oistad is in his first season as head coach of the Sabres following the retirement of Dave Angell.

Oistad joined AM 1390 the FAN Saturday morning to talk Sabres hoops.

A pair of local girls hockey coaches joined the show as well. Marty Anderson is the head coach of the Sartell-Sauk Rapids Stormin' Sabres, who have started the season 6-1-1. The Stormin' Sabres opened their season with a 2-0 loss against Rogers in Sartell, but have since rattled off a seven game undefeated streak.

Sartell/Sauk Rapids will take on rival St. Cloud on Tuesday night at the MAC. Anderson recaps his team's start, and previews Tuesday's big matchup.

Finally, Mark Chamernick joined the show from the bus ride to Moorhead, where his Icebreakers were scheduled to play Saturday afternoon.St. Cloud is off to a 5-1-1 start to the season.
