SARTELL -- Sartell is gearing up for this year's 34th annual Apple Duathlon.

Over 500 athletes are expected to come out to compete this Saturday. The Apple Duathlon features two 5K runs, a 33K bike race and a Kids Apple Duathlon.

The 5K run course begins at Sartell Middle School and goes through 7th St. N to Pine Cone Road N, down to 345th St. N and 2 1/2 St. N to 2nd Ave. N.

The 33K bike race will also begin at Sartell Middle School and go through 57th Ave to Main St. W, up Cedar Ave. N and back down County Road 1 and Great River Road.

The Kids Apple Duathlon will feature three different courses, a short course for ages 6-10, a long course for ages 11-14 and an apple seedlings course for ages 3-6.

The Kids Apple Duathlon begins at 5:50 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) and the Apple Duathlon will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Sartell Police Department says there will be temporary road closures on Saturday from about 8:30 am to 10:30 am on Pinecone Road from 7th St. N to 35th St. N due to the Apple Duathlon.
