Current councilman David Peterson is being deployed overseas as part of his duties as a Minnesota National Guard member. Peterson will be gone for up to a year leaving his spot on the council in need of a fill-in.

The city asked for residents who have government experience to submit letters of interest in serving during Peterson's absence. Five people submitted their names...former Sartell Mayor Bob Pogatchnik and former St. Joseph Mayor and now-Sartell resident Al Rassier, former Sartell council members Pat Lynch and Dennis Molitor and the fifth and final candidate Mike Haehn is a Sartell resident who works for the St. Cloud HRA.

The council will appoint one of the five following the regular city council meeting tonight.
