Sartell-St. Stephen District Hosting Forums For Upcoming Referendum

SARTELL - The Sartell-Stephen school district is hosting several community forums for its upcoming $105.8 million referendum on May 24th.

Attendees will hear from superintendent Jeff Schwiebert, school board members and administration about the components of the facility plan and how referendum money will be spent.

There will be time for questions and feedback for the district. A school tour will follow the sessions held at district schools for those interested.

The following meetings have been scheduled:

• Wednesday, March 23rd at 6:30 p.m. - Sartell High School
• Tuesday, April 12th at 8:30 a.m. - Sartell City Hall
• Monday, April 18th at 6:00 p.m. - St. Stephen City Hall
• Wednesday, April 27th at 6:30 p.m. - Sartell Middle School
• Tuesday, May 3rd at 6:00 p.m. - Oak Ridge Elementary

The district wants to bond $105.8 million over 25 years. Here’s how the money would be used:

• $89.5 million would be spent on a new high school.
• $1.7 million would go to Pine Meadow.
• $650,000 would go to Oak Ridge.
• $2.55 million would go towards the middle school (which would become a 3rd-5th grade intermediate school).
• $10.55 million would go to the existing high school (which would become a middle school).
• $850,000 would go towards borrowing costs.
