SARTELL - A Sartell Police Sergeant who was on paid administrative leave has resigned.

City Administrator Patti Gartland says Mark Bromenschenkel handed-in his resignation on Friday.  Gartland says he had been on leave since August 25th, after a complaint was filed against him.  The nature of the complaint has not been revealed, and the investigation will not be completed.

Gartland says the city council will have to review whether they want to fill the vacant officer position.  The city has been under a hiring freeze since 2008.  The police department is down 1 1/2 positions, but before Bromenschenkel's resignation they were still at full strength for officers on the street.

Bromenschenkel is also a Stearns County Commissioner.
