SARTELL -- The city of Sartell is looking to make some improvements to Val Smith Park.

The Sartell City Council will hold a special meeting this evening (Thursday) looking to approve financial bids for a new shelter at Val Smith Park.

The council has been looking at upgrading the facility, that is starting to show its age.

City Administrator Mary Degiovanni says the total cost for the new shelter would be over $300,000.

Which includes demolition of the old shelter upon completion.

The project is being funded through half-cent sales tax dollars.

With the councils approval on the financial bids this evening construction can begin.

Sartell hopes to complete the project by this fall.
